(UPDATE) ALEX Eala of the Philippines continues to climb the standings of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), achieving a new career high.
Despite her early exit at the Australian Open qualifiers, Eala ranked 136th as of Monday, two places better than her previous career best at 138th, which was achieved only last week.
In an Instagram story on Monday, Eala said she always appreciated achieving career highs.
"Step by step ... always appreciate a new career high," she said.
Before her appearance at the Australian Open in Melbourne, Eala also took part in the Canberra International in the Australian capital, making the main draw and made an appearance in the semifinals.
Before the start of 2025, Eala's previous career high was 143rd, achieved back in July 2024.
