The hospital, Nuwellis' 44th pediatric account, will be utilizing the Aquadex SmartFlow® system to treat children suffering from fluid overload caused by kidney and heart disease. Since 2020 when the FDA granted clearance, Nuwellis has increased the number of accounts from 13 to 44.

This launch initiates a new a collaboration between Nuwellis and the children's hospital, which is a part of a prominent healthcare network in the western U.S. This collaboration will enable the hospital to provide advanced therapy for highly tailored fluid management in vulnerable pediatric patients. Fluid overload is a critical challenge for children battling severe kidney and heart conditions, and therapy with Aquadex SmartFlow® can provide these patients hope for improved outcomes and quality of life.

About the Aquadex SmartFlow® System

The Aquadex SmartFlow® system delivers clinically proven therapy using a simple, flexible and smart method of removing excess fluid from patients suffering from hypervolemia (fluid overload). The Aquadex SmartFlow® system is indicated for temporary (up to 8 hours) or extended (longer than 8 hours in patients who require hospitalization) use in adult and pediatric patients weighing 20 kg or more whose fluid overload is unresponsive to medical management, including diuretics.
