MANILA, Philippines — Casiey Dongallo has left University of the East and is bound for University of the Philippines, according to multiple reports. The Manila Times has already sought confirmation from Dongallo herself but has yet to respond as of posting time.Dongallo isn't the only one moving from UE to UP as setter Kizzie Madriaga as well as Jelai Gajero, who was supposed to debut for the Lady Warriors this upcoming UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tourney, are reportedly bound for Diliman, too.A 5-foot-7 spiker, Dongallo tallied the most points scored by a rookie last season with a total of 291 points as UE finished sixth with a 3-11 record in Season 86.The hope was that she'd lead the way for the Lady Warriors for years to come but apparently that won't be the case anymore.Dongallo, Madriaga, and Gajero's move to UP made sense as it's also backed by Strong Group Athletics, which also supports UE.On top of that, UE coach Obet Vital, who also coached Dongallo, Madriaga, and Gajero in their high school days at California Academy in Antipolo, was reported to have joined the Fighting Maroons camp as well.Vital resigned as UE coach last December when he cited 'differences in vision' as his reason for leaving the Lady Warriors.Dongallo, Madriaga, and Gajero will serve a one-year residency before being eligible to play for UP.Another one-year deduction on their playing years will also be imposed due to new league rules for transfers made within UAAP schools.
