BECAUSE I thought I had had enough of the aimlessness of the Biden administration, the rambling remarks of Kamala Harris, and the dominance of wokeism and its lunacies, I cheered for Donald Trump — because I thought that he would bring back sanity into the American public life. He has yet to take office and I am already disappointed. Not only disappointed but angered, in fact, to the fullest measure of spite.

I did not only hear reports about him threatening to use force to seize the Panama Canal and Greenland. I heard him, and what I heard was like some 21st-century version of Benito Mussolini and Fidel Castro (at least from YouTube recordings of their perorations) — a person bloated with a misplaced sense of power, one whose hauteur does not fail to disgust! Without any hint that he gave a farthing to the proscriptions of international law, he refused to commit not to use force to take control of the Panama Canal, saying that the US needed it for its economy. As for Greenland, he quite stupidly mumbled something about not being sure whether it had any rights but that, in any event, it should give these up because Greenland was necessary for US security.
