CAGAYAN State University (CSU)-Aparri, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Research and Creative Writing Office, launched its Technology for Education (Tech4Ed) Center on Dec. 13, 2024.

CSU Officer-in-Charge President Arthur Ibañez said the university's Aparri campus has received valuable equipment, including four desktop units, a printer, a closed-circuit television, and a WiFi router, from the DICT Region 2 office.

Ibañez said the technology will support the College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) students and faculty in their research endeavors and will also serve the Research and Creative Writing Office of the Graduate School.

Explaining the objectives and advantages of the Tech4Ed Center, College of Information and Computing Sciences dean Julieta Babas said theTech4Ed project, which was initiated by the DICT, "bridges the digital divide and promote inclusive growth."

Babas also explained that Tech4Ed centers serve as community hubs, offering access to information, communication technologies, and services such as education, skills training and government assistance.

"As one of the beneficiaries of this remarkable initiative, we are deeply grateful for this opportunity to bring the benefits of technology closer to our community. This Tech4Ed Center will empower not only our students and faculty but also the entire community to learn, grow, and thrive in today's digital world," she added.

CSU Aparri Campus Tech4Ed coordinator Iolanie Silvestre thanked DICT for the Tech4Ed project which makes digital literacy and online services more accessible to Filipinos.

Also thanking CSU-Aparri campus executive officer Audy Quebral, Silvestre noted that her designation as the Tech4Ed project coordinator fills her with thrill and honor.

"I am grateful to CSU Aparri and I look forward to conducting projects and training to achieve the goals of this government program," Silvestre said.

Meanwhile, DICT said it will donate an additional set of desktop units to the CSU Aparri campus to enhance the resources available at the Tech4Ed Center.
