With the holiday season over and the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) concluded once again, the local movie industry is back to the reality of grappling with competition from foreign films, high production costs, steep cinema ticket prices, and the ever-evolving entertainment preferences of audiences. Thankfully, there remain legislators who continue to advocate for Philippine cinema — not only because of its rich cultural significance and potential to drive economic growth but also because of their unwavering faith in Filipino artists, their immense talent, and the stories they bring to life.

During the festive MMFF season, The T-Zone had the opportunity to speak with two prominent senators — Senate Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada and reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos — who have always championed Philippine Cinema in both policy and passion. As they actively encouraged Filipinos to support the festival and rally behind local films, they eagerly shared their continuing plans to help strengthen the industry to reach its full and true potential, offering producers and movie creatives renewed hope and vigor in 2025 and beyond.
