CEBU CITY — Mayor Teresa Alegado of Consolacion town said she will challenge the contempt charges slapped against her by the regional trial court, asserting that her actions were driven by the need to protect the property rights and the best interest of the municipality.

Alegado questioned the fairness of the court's decision, emphasizing that her dedication to the welfare of her constituents in Consolacion should not be misinterpreted as contempt of court.
