NAME a cliché. Did you say, practice makes perfect? This can't be any truer than in learning a new language. If you're a non-native English speaker who wants to improve his English communication skills and do not have the luxury of an environment that forces you to speak the language, like at work or if you're living in an English-speaking country, don't fret. Like I always tell my clients, you can always create that environment for yourself. How? Simple. Immerse yourself in different forms of media in the English format, of course, and watch, listen and read mindfully. The operative word is, mindfully. And this, I would say, is one of the things that sets the best non-native English speakers apart from the rest. Doing everything mindfully. Try it. English movies are one of the most effective forms of media that you can feast your eyes on. And speaking of English movies, one of the better and newer releases that I recently caught on Netflix is 'Carry-On.' It's an airport thriller. The movie starts and ends on the eve of Christmas Day at the LAX or the Los Angeles Airport, so you can imagine how packed it was -- literally and figuratively. I have never gasped and held my breath as many times as I did in watching this movie. I highly recommend it.
