TARLAC Gov. Susan Yap has expressed support to a call made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last year on Congress

to ignore the impeachment filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Yap believes that Marcos was right in his pronouncement in December last year, stressing that the impeachment filed against Duterte is "divisive" and would not benefit the people.

"It is definitely divisive as any impeachment is political in nature," said Yap, adding that the impeachment proceeding will take much of the time of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

"Our senators will be the judges if the impeachment prospers to the Senate and some of the House members will be the pros-ecutors. I am pretty sure that the entire nation will be focused on the trial. If that will happen, our economy will be stagnant be-cause of the political melodrama," she added.

"In this time that our country is in the recovery phase, any political instability will surely affect our economy. The president is just right in calling for the House members to ignore the impeachment," stressed Yap.

The governor also pledged her support to the "Rally for Peace" that will be undertaken by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) on Jan. 13 (Monday).

"I pledge my full support to the rally to be conducted by the Iglesia Ni Cristo on January 13," said Yap.

"I believe that any political instability will surely affect our economy. I pray that with this rally, President Bongbong and Vice President Sara will mend fences and once again unite for the betterment of all Filipinos," added Yap.
