THE president signed the 2025 national budget last Dec. 30, 2024, after slashing P194 billion from the unprogrammed appropriations and other flood work projects. The national budget stands at P6.326 trillion, lower by a mere.004 percent from the original P6.352 trillion approved by the bicameral conference committee (bicam).

Not everyone is happy at the end of any national budget process. There will be winners and losers. But the controversy boils down to how the budget pie was allocated to different sectors.
