THE Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has formally sought the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct parallel investigations into a fatal stabbing of an inmate inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) on Thursday, Jan. 2.
BuCor officials said that inmate Ricardo Peralta died in the violent incident that also left two other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) wounded, raising concerns about security and accountability within the national penitentiary's maximum-security facility.
