THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has launched the Save from Extinction fundraising campaign to repopulate six species that are iconic of our heritage but now are on the brink of extinction: the Philippine eagle, pawikan, tamaraw, cockatoo, dugong and the Philippine pangolin. It has already raised P100 million and seeks to generate the same amount from the public over the next few years to start initiatives like breeding programs.

One way that individuals and organizations can help is by purchasing t-shirts and tote bags featuring the six species from DENR's partner SM retail brand Kultura. Another is through donation boxes in the Save From Extinction kiosks or deposits through Banco de Oro (BDO) ATMs, online banking and over-the-counter in BDO branches nationwide.
