CARCAR CITY, Cebu — Region 7 (Central Visayas) continues to face significant challenges in tackling the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic, with 370 new cases reported between July and September 2024, the Department of Health's (DOH) latest HIV and AIDS surveillance report said.

Since the first recorded case in 1984, the region has documented a total of 11,285 HIV cases, accounting for 8 percent of the country's total cases.
