IN last week's column, I explained how the meaning of DDS morphed from the original "Davao Death Squad" to "Diehard Duterte Supporters" after the May 2016 elections. This was a consequence of social media's emergence as an influential factor in those polls. The DDS phenomenon essentially took away social media from the clutches of celebrities and traditional media outlets into the welcoming arms of "social media famous" nobodies.
