REPUBLIC Act (RA) 12080, or the Basic Education Mental Health and Well-being Promotion Act, aims to institutionalize mental health and well-being programs for basic education learners, teaching and nonteaching personnel in both public and private schools.
While the law requires the Department of Education to provide sufficient resources for planning and implementing these mental health programs and projects, questions remain about the agency's capacity to fully implement RA 12080 across all public schools, given existing resource constraints.
