CEBU CITY — Region 7 (Central Visayas) is grappling with a staggering 291 percent increase in dengue cases this year, as the Department of Health 7 (DOH-7) reported a sharp rise in infections and deaths compared to 2023.
From January up to the latest data on Dec. 17, the region logged 36,942 cases and 78 deaths, a significant jump from the 9,439 cases and 43 deaths recorded during the same period last year.
