ONE of the most precious gifts I received this Christmas is a beautiful icon of Our Lady of Silence — from a simple Marian devotee who wanted to celebrate the life of interior silence in a world drowning in so much political noise. The gift came unadorned with the usual trimmings of Christmas, accompanied only by a quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta, saying, "The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, and the fruit of service is peace."
I thought it's a message our country needs very badly at this time and can use.
