THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday warned candidates in next year's midterm elections not to politicize government social programs, noting such a violation carries a penalty of imprisonment and disqualification.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said distribution of support or assistance should solely be undertaken by the officials and personnel of the concerned government department without intervention from any politician.
