MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday assured the public that the government would ensure the safety of Filipino drug convict Mary Jane Veloso following her return to the Philippines after 15 years behind bars in Indonesia.

In a statement, Marcos thanked the Indonesian government for allowing Veloso's transfer of custody to the Philippines.
