THIS year was a very busy year for the automotive industry, and with that, numerous cars have been through the hands of the Fast Times team. With the Philippine automotive industry brimming with choices whether electrified or not, there has never been a great time to be in the market for a new car.
However, with so many choices, one could be overwhelmed as well. To sift through all the noise, we've written here all the cars that were truly memorable regardless of price point. All the cars here have been driven for a full review — first drives and around-the-block test drives don't count for proper vehicle evaluation. Without further ado, these are the 10 cars we've driven this year for a comprehensive review that truly stood out.
10th. Toyota Zenix Hybrid – An iconic MPV spawns a posher, more refined derivative called the (Innova) Zenix. Toyota doesn't want you to attach the Innova name to it, but it comes with the Innova badge anyway out of the factory. By transforming into an MPV with a unibody construction provided by the TNGA-C platform, the Zenix drives unlike any Innova before it. While it loses the ruggedness of a body-on-frame construction, it more than makes up for its significant refinement improvements and in the case of the hybrid variant we drove, is also mighty efficient and refined. Electrification sure augments a gasoline engine, huh?
