OFFICIAL reports and interviews of US consuls in Manila show that more than 1,000 Filipinos apply for a nonimmigrant visa (NIVs) every day. The refusal rate is pegged at 20 percent.

The 800 lucky nonimmigrant visa applicants must use the visa during the validity period; otherwise, he/she must pay a new application fee and go through the hoops, including the new procedures through the Visa Application Center.
