State of calamity declared in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY — Negros Occidental was placed under a state of calamity after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (City Council) approved the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) in a special session on Friday.

The resolution recommends the release of the calamity fund of the province, a price freeze on basic necessities and prime commodities, programming/ reprogramming of funds, utilization of the quick response fund (QRF) and the use of alternative modes of procurement.
