(UPDATE) PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday assured the public the government has stepped up its response efforts to help the people displaced by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Island.

In a video message, the president said that ensuring the safety of the people is the top priority of the government.
