THE peso and stock market both fell on Monday with investors said to have reacted to developments in Syria while also waiting for fresh economic data.

The currency returned to the P58:$1 level, weakening by 27 and a half centavos to 58.01 against the dollar, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) also slid to 6,600 territory by shedding 48.57 points, or 0.72 percent, to 6,680.57.
