DO you play favorites? I surely do. With the exemption of family and godchildren. Like for example, I, well, my family loves him too, have a favorite priest whom we religiously (no pun intended) see every Sunday at our neighborhood parish in Eastwood, Quezon City. He takes the 10:30 a.m. slot, in case you were curious. He's our favorite because, and I can speak for me and my partner, his homilies are entertaining and perfectly balance doctrine with practical life experiences. Never mind that he comes from the other side. If you haven't guessed, I'm a true blue Lasallian, and they don't come as green as me anymore, I noticed. Anyway, Father Francis is not bad for an Atenean. Quite a rare species, if you ask me. Just kidding! Or was I? I live for the rivalry! Anyway, don't you just, for lack of a better term, hate bookish homilies? I can't stand them. But this one's far from that. Miles away, actually. He effortlessly transforms the halls of the church into his own classroom being a teacher himself, and the parishioners are living for it. The church halls have started to get packed week after week you'd think he was a rockstar. In fact, we have started going to church a little earlier than usual since he occupied the 10:30 a.m. slot on Sundays. On top of this, which was not surprising considering his background, he has good grammar, flawless even. One time, he said: 'Advent starts in December and on Dec. 1, to be exact.' You see, in talking about dates, we say 'IN' for months and years, and 'ON' for exact dates. On point! Bless you, Father!
