3 Luzon dams release water

MANILA, Philippines — Three major dams in Luzon — Ambuklao, Binga and Magat — continue to release water in a bid to avoid an overflow, the state-run weather agency said on Monday.

Nathaniel Servando, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) administrator, told The Manila Times that they have to open the control gates of these dams because they were nearing their spilling levels.
Servando said the Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet had one gate unlocked with an opening measured at 0.30 meters (m).
As of 8 a.m. Monday, Bokod dam's reservoir water level (RWL) was at 751.70 m or just short of -0.30 m before reaching its normal high water level (NHWL) of 752.00 m or its spilling level.
