ILOILO CITY — The Department of Health Western Visayas is intensifying its call for increased testing for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), in the face of rising cases of HIV in the region.

Joseph Carlo Carillo of the Infectious Disease Cluster of the DOH-6 said that an estimated 15,000 individuals in the region are afflicted with HIV, but only 7,587, or 51 percent, have been clinically diagnosed.
