Kevin Arquero was relegated to the losers bracket but regained his form and edged Sherwin Tiu, 2-1, in the finals to rule the 1st Single Knockout Armageddon Tournament (SiKAT) at the SMX Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City on Nov. 30, 2024.The tournament was held in conjunction with the 49th IIEE Annual National Convention. Arquero opened the tournament with back to back wins over Keiffer Pelias and Michael Suacillo. He dropped to the bottom side of the bracket after bowing to Tiu but bounced back with a victory against National Master Romeo Alcodia to reach the finals. Tiu, on the other hand, outplayed Evaristo Tizon Jr., Candidate Master Genghis Imperial and Arquero to make the finals unscathed. Meanwhile, 19 players, mostly members of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE), participated in the simultaneous exhibition games with International Master Roderick Nava. The IIEE players who won over Nava include Randy Turreda and Evaristo Tizon Jr. of Metro Central; Eric Frigillana and Christopher Balbuena of Metro South; John Eric Menor and Michael Suacillo of Metro East; Danilo Centino of Eastern Central Visayas; and Rafael De Guzman of Southern Laguna. In the other mini-tournaments supervised by International Arbiter Ricky Navalta, the champions were Neil Siongco, Ronald Donasco, AFM Anthony Cataros, Raul Ochavez and NM Alcodia. The 3-day IIEE Golden Sports event was graced by special guests PBA legend Ramon Fernandez, Grandmaster Joey Antonio and actor Jao Mapa. Other sports highlights includes drone soccer by the Philippine Drone Soccer Association led by Crissa May Busano and PDSA President Nastaran Reza Nazar Zadeh.
