IN the week just past, I followed closely a debate about assisted dying. No, I am not referring to the bizarre threat of the vice president against the president, the first lady, and the speaker of the House to ensure their demise, in case she herself is killed. In London, the House of Commons was debating the assisted dying bill.

This bill would allow people with terminal illnesses and have less than six months to live to self-administer a substance that would end their lives.
