MANILA, Philippines — De La Salle University forward Kevin Quiambao is grateful and excited to claim his second straight MVP award in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament. His main goal is a title repeat for the Green Archers, though.'I'm excited to get this award but this is not my main goal. My main goal is to win a championship,' the 6-foot-5 cager said.Quiambao was quick to give credits to his teammates and coaches whom he said made his back-to-back MVP runs possible.'My teammates, the coaching staff, and the management played a big role in this. I wouldn't win the MVP award if it weren't for them. They were to lift me up in my down moments,' said c.'The MVP isn't just me, it's all of us, even the coaches.'The Green Archers put themselves closer to a title repeat after dispatching the Adamson Soaring Falcons in their Final Four match, 70-55, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.Quiambao logged 14 points, three steals, three rebounds, and two assists for the top seed La Salle which needed to win only once to enter the finals, where it face the second seed UP Fighting Maroons for the second straight year.UP dispatched UST, 78-69, in the other semifinal pairing. While the Archers had the Maroons' number last year and even swept the latter in their elimination round series this season, Quiambao said that doesn't matter anymore.'Coming to this Finals, it's 0-0 again. It doesn't matter what our history is, the results of our games in the first and second rounds because everything is back to zero again,' said Quiambao.'We need to be more focused and prepared. This is for your school so you really need to give your best.'
