TAIPEI — Taiwan's leader Lai Ching-te will stop over in Hawaii and the American territory of Guam during a trip to three Pacific island nations, his office said on Thursday.

The announcement sparked fury in China, which insists Taiwan is part of its territory and opposes any international recognition of the island.
