The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Philippines, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), organized a special tourism and tea promotion during the 18th Asia Pacific Congress of Pediatrics (APCP) 2024, held on Nov. 14-17 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino, Cebu City. The event aimed to promote Sri Lanka’s hosting of the 19th APCP in Colombo in July 2026 and raise awareness among participants to garner support for the next conference. APCP 2024, presented by the Asia Pacific Pediatric Association (APPA) and organized by the Philippine Pediatric Society, welcomed around 2,000 local and foreign delegates. The Sri Lanka Pavilion was well-received, featuring leaflets for APCP 2026 and tourism brochures. Delegates enjoyed a continuous showcase of documentaries on the Ramayana Trail and videos highlighting Sri Lanka’s scenic landscapes, cultural landmarks, vibrant traditions, and world-renowned tea industry. Premium Ceylon tea brands Dilmah and George Steuarts were prominently displayed, with freshly brewed tea served to visitors. The event successfully positioned Sri Lanka as a must-visit destination while celebrating its rich heritage and promoting its upcoming role as APCP host.
