FOUL, vulgar, intemperate and abusive language used to be the medium of communication under former president Rodrigo Duterte. He once called God "stupid" and some men in high places, like US President Barack Obama and US Ambassador Philip Goldberg, as "sons of bitches."
This brought laughter of approval among his supporters, who tended to regard certain vulgarities as terms of endearment, but it certainly degraded the use of language in political discourse.
