THE date of Leon Gallery's Kingly Auction, scheduled for Nov. 30, 2024, coincides with the 161st birth anniversary of the founder of the Katipunan and the Father of the Philippine Revolution, Gat Andres Bonifacio.

He remains one of the leading heroes in the hearts of his countrymen, not by official declaration as a national hero but by public acclamation. But, according to the historian Dr. Milagros Guerrero, he is also the "Father of the Filipino Nation" because he not only led the movement that brought forth our nation, but it became its first government. As it initially envisioned as early as January 1892, long before its supposed founding on July 7, 1892, "Isinasaysay na ang mga Kapuluang ito ay humihiwalay sa [Espanya] magbuhat sa araw na ito at walang kinikilala at kikilalanin pang Puno at makapangyayari kundi itong Kataas-taasang Katipunan [It is hereby declared that these islands are breaking away (from Spain) from this day forward and do not recognize and will not recognize any leader or power other than this Supreme Council]."
