MANILA, Philippines — Three-time PBA scoring king Terrence Romeo described the trade that sent him to Terrafirma as 'one of the saddest moments' in his pro basketball career. In a long post at his Instagram account, Romeo detailed what he felt, just hours after San Miguel, the team he helped win three PBA titles since 2019, shipped him on Monday to Terrafirma.'Probably (this is) one of the saddest moments of my career, but that's the reality, there's nothing permanent in the basketball world,' Romeo wrote in Filipino in his official Instagram account.'The important things are the happy memories and achievements we made and the learnings,' he continued. The 33-year-old Romeo sure enjoyed wonderful moments during his seven-year stint with the Beermen. His early yearsp with the league's winningest franchise saw him play a pivotal role in SMB's championship runs in the Philippine Cup and Commissioner's Cup in 2019.The former Far Eastern University gunner averaged 14.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 rebounds during the 2019 Commissioner's Cup title series, as he helped the Beermen subdue his former team TNT, 4-2 to win the title en route to being named the Finals MVP.Romeo, who has been in and out of the injured list the last two seasons, played an off-the-bench role in San Miguel's PBA Governors' Cup semifinal series, where the team lost to eventual runner-up Barangay Ginebra.Though taking the trade with a heavy heart, Romeo took the time to thank SMB led by consultant Leo Austria and head coach Jorge Gallent, along with the Beermen management for giving him the opportunity to win championships.'To my San Miguel family, to all my teammates, I'm happy to be able to play with you for the last seven years. And to all my coaches, thank you, especially to coach Leo for allowing me to showcase my talent and help the team since it's here at San Miguel that I won the championships and individual awards. Thank you,' Romeo added.'Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat specially coach Leo for allowing me to showcase my talent para makatulong sa team and dahil din sa San Miguel nanalo ako ng mga championship at ibang individual awards thank you,' wrote Romeo.'Sa lahat ng teammates ko, masaya q na nakasama kayo sa seven years ko na pag lalaro sa San Miguel. Sa aking mga coaches, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat specially coach Leo for allowing me to showcase my talent para makatulong sa team and dahil din sa San Miguel nanalo ako ng mga championship at ibang individual awards thank you,' wrote Romeo.Romeo also thanked Terrafirma for welcoming him.'Thank you Terrafirma for welcoming me. I hope I'll be able to help the team. Let's get it,' he said.
