THE most recent hearing of the quad committee of the House of Representatives, where both former president Rodrigo Duterte and incumbent Vice President Sara Duterte were in attendance, was momentous and a critical juncture in our country's political history. The former president attended as a resource person, while Vice President Duterte attended as a daughter.

And their presence may have provided a space for their much-vaunted political brand to begin its self-destruction, notwithstanding the continuing denial of their noisy diehard supporters who still find time to come up with silly memes depicting the former president as coming out of the hearings like a victor trampling on Congress, unscathed and undiminished.
