Gilas Pilipinas rode on a spirited third quarter assault before holding off a solid New Zealand rally in the endgame to eke out a pulse-pounding 93-89 triumph Thursday night in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers at the jampacked Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Filipinos unleashed a massive 16-0 bomb behind the triumvirate of Justin Brownlee, Kai Sotto and Scottie Thompson, which allowed them to grab a 12-point lead heading to the tailend of the third period.
