US soldiers stationed in South Korea rolled up their sleeves to make kimchi for South Korean families in need at a charity event on Tuesday, November 19.
About 50 US soldiers donned pink rubber gloves and blue plastic aprons to mix and ferment cabbage with a spicy paste made of red pepper, garlic, ginger, and fish sauce at a parking lot of the Dongducheon Volunteer Center, which was cleared for the event.
Working with local volunteers, US soldiers from the 210th Field Artillery Brigade made about 4,500 kilograms of the traditional Korean side for the needy in Dongducheon, the military said.
About 28,000 US troops are based in South Korea to help defend against the hostile North and maintain peace in the Korean peninsula.
