Philippine farmers face financial ruin after Super Typhoon Pepito
Eduardo Santos is one of many Philippine farmers facing financial ruin after his rice crops were flooded in the wake of Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-Yi). Heavy rain caused a earthen dike to collapse in Aliaga town, Nueva Ecija province, leading to the flooding of houses and up to 200 hectares of rice farms. "We don't know how we will start again," Santos tells AFP. "All [the crops] were washed away so we don't know how to start again."
