RICHARD "Chang" Guzman brought me to Peñablanca, Cagayan 30 years ago. Actually, his photos did. His images of the caves in Peñablanca, featured in Philippine Airlines' Mabuhay Magazine, inspired me and my travel buddies to travel for 14 hours on Christmas night in 1994 to Tuguegarao to meet him.

Guzman, known as the "Father of Cave Photography in the Philippines," had documented many of the caves in Region 2 (Cagayan region). He told us to meet him at his store in Tuguegarao, but he didn't show up. Instead, he sent a friend from the Sierra Madre Outdoor Club (SMOC) to pick us up, explaining that Chang was a very shy person.
