If there's one celebrity who embodies the vibrant and resilient spirit of the Bisaya people — those native to the Visayas, southern Luzon, and parts of Mindanao — it is no other than actress, comedian, and host Melai Cantiveros.
While many celebrities embrace their Bisaya heritage, Cantiveros stands out by unapologetically showcasing it in how she speaks, interacts, and presents herself, even after years of living in Manila. Born in General Santos City, Mindanao, Cantiveros first captured the nation's attention in 2009 when she won "Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up." It was also where she met her husband, fellow housemate Jason Francisco. Today, they are proud parents to two daughters, Mela and Stela.
