BAGUIO CITY — Igorot karate master Julian Chees, the only Filipino to be drafted in the German national karate team, is now a four-time world kata champion.
Chees, who hails from Maligcong, Bontoc in Mountain Province, became a four-time world kata champion after he ruled the 60 to 64 years old individual men's kata in the Funakoshi Gichin Cup 16th Karate World Championship Tournament held at Takasaki Arena in Japan on Oct. 26-27.
