Ateneo staves off UE, ends 3-game skid

MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo de Manila University staved off University of the East, 71-67, to snap its 3-game skid in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on Wednesday.

Andrew Bongo fired 15 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the cellar-dwelling Blue Eagles, who are no longer in Final Four contention but improved to 4-9.
