WHOLESALE prices of goods in Metro Manila rose by 2 percent in September, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported, noting the general wholesale price index (GWPI) was faster than the 1.9 percent growth rate in August, but slower than the 4.4 percent in September 2023.

The PSA attributed the September 2024 price rate hike to the year-on-year increase in the index of chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats — whose prices spiked to 5.7 percent from 4.1 percent in August.
