KALAYAAN, Laguna — More than 1,000 jobs are expected to be generated in Laguna once NKS Solar One Inc. commences its project construction at the latter part of 2024.'This project aligns with the national government's target of contributing to sustainable energy in the future, and will also boost the economic activity in the province resulting in more jobs,' said company president Andre Pablo Fausto IlI.NKS Solar One is a 250 MWp floating solar project to be built in Lake Caliraya and Lake Lumot.It has been awarded a green lane status by the Philippine Board of Investments (BoI) in July 2023.The power to be generated from this project will benefit the Luzon grid and provide the urgently needed additional supply of energy to the country.The NKS Solar One recently met with representatives from the Department of Energy, BoI, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and National Power Corp. in a bid to fast track the development of the project.During the meeting, BoI-Investment Assistance Service Division chief Lubin de Vera Jr. explained that under Executive Order 18, NKS Solar One is among the 63 projects considered as strategic investments by the national government.The goal of the green lane is to expedite, streamline and automate government processes for this kind of investment.Although the company has yet to start the construction, it has already started implementing social development programs in the municipalities of Cavinti, Lumban, and Kalayaan where the project is going to be located.Jason Gavina, head of Community Relations and Marketing, said they believe in empowering communities by working with partners and host communities in implementing relevant social development programs on health, education, livelihood, environment, and tourism.NKS Solar One Inc. is a joint venture between NKS Energy Utilities and Blueleaf Energy Philippines.NKS Energy Utility is recognized as a foremost provider of Scada system and automation solutions for power, water, and utilities in the Philippines and across Asia, while Blueleaf Energy Philippines, a portfolio company of Macquarie Capital operating on a standalone basis, is a leading onshore renewable energy specialist, dedicated to developing and operating utility-scale solar projects.
