GENERAL Trias City Mayor Luis 'Jon-Jon' Ferrer IV highlighted the city's manifold achievements under his stewardship during his first State of the City Address (SOCA) on Thursday at the General Trias Cultural and Convention Center in Barangay Sampalukan here.Ferrer, who was reelected mayor of the city, cited unity as the main key to city's progress during his public address witnessed by the city council and around 1300 individuals that included Gov. Athena Tolentino, Vice Gov. Shernan Jaro, Board Members Morit Sison and Kerby Salazar, LGU department heads, DepEd officials, Nagkakaisang Kababaihan ng General Trias, Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel, and barangay officials of 33 villages in the city.Ferrer touched on his discussion on the education sector, health, agriculture, and peace and order in the city, and unveiled the field projects and programs of the city government for the coming year.'The strength of our city rests on our unity, and because of this, we are taking only one direction which is ensuring the progress of our beloved city,' Ferrer said.Some of the infrastructure projects he cited in his public address were Dasma-GenTri Diversion Road in Barangay San Francisco; covered court in Barangay Biclatan; construction of four-story classrooms in Luis A. Ferrer National High School in Barangay Sta. Clara, New Santiago Elementary School in Barangay Santiago, and Luis Y. Ferrer Jr West National High in Pasong Kawayan 2; new memorial chapels in Barangay Buenavista; new LTO Office in Barangay Tejero; and a Super Health Center in San Francisco.The mayor said the continued trust of investors in the local government here and the construction of SM GenTri in Barangay Pasong Camachile 2 will provide plenty of jobs to GenTriseños.The local government unit (LGU) recently provided assistance to more than 10,000 families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine with the help of Tolentino and Agimat party-list of Rep. Bryan Revilla.In social services, the distribution of P100,000 for centenarians, uniforms to barangay police in the city's 33 villages, continued distribution of medical, burial and educational assistance.Recently, the groundbreaking of the new police and fire stations in Barangay Sampalucan included the provision of an additional seven PNP vehicles, two BJMP service, and police equipment for the local SWAT squad.The local government also distributed e-bikes to all homeowners associations in the city.Ferrer said his administration also continues to promote tourism by recognizing tourist destinations such as the Valenciana Festival and St. Francis of Assisi.Ferrer as well as Rep. Antonio 'Ony' Ferrer and Vice Mayor Jonas Labuguen are running again in the May 12, 2025 local election without opponents.
