Lyceum edges JRU, stays in hunt for Final Four spot

LYCEUM of the Philippines University edged Jose Rizal University (JRU), 82-80, to boost its chances for a Final Four berth in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Friday.
Lyceum raised its win-loss record to 8-8 as JRU dropped to 4-12.

The Pirates held a four-point lead, 81-77, when Lyceum's Renz Villegas committed a turnover that led to a layup by Karl de Jesus for an 81-79 count with 34.6 seconds remaining in the game.
The Heavy Bombers continued to play pressure defense and forced Gyle Montaño to commit an error as Joshua Guiab was fouled and sent to the charity line.
Guiab, however, split his free throws and the Heavy Bombers were left with no choice but to send Mclaude Guadaña to the free throw line.
