US PRESIDENT-ELECT Donald Trump called his Nov. 5 election a "magnificent victory" while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other leaders called it "the greatest political comeback in US history." French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Hungary's Victor Orban and many European and Latin American leaders called to congratulate and assure him of their willingness to work with him.
But The New York Times, the world's most influential newspaper, called it a "perilous choice" for American voters as it enumerated the many challenges Trump needs to hurdle. The British newspaper The Guardian had expressed support for the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and called Trump the most unworthy candidate ever to seek the US presidency; it offered no editorial comment on his election.
