THE passage of the proposed Konektadong Pinoy Act which seeks to boost competition in the Philippine telecommunications industry could result in lower internet service quality especially in underserved areas, a leading consumer advocacy group warned.
In a statement on Thursday, CitizenWatch Philippines warned that the law could inadvertently encourage telecommunication companies to cut costs and reduce investments in infrastructure in order to stay competitive in a newly deregulated market.
