8 accused Bataan farmers show up in court

ARMED with support from former detainee and senator Leila de Lima, eight Bataan farmers have decided to come out and present themselves before the court after almost two years of hiding following 'trumped up' criminal charges filed against them in connection with the land they till.

Fe Andulan, one of the farmers belonging to the Samahang Nagkakaisang Mamamayan ng Barangay Sumalo (Sanamabasu) from Barangay Sumalo, Hermosa town said on Tuesday's 'Pandesal Forum' at Kamuning Bakery Cafe that they have been harassed and falsely charged with syndicated estafa.

Former senator Leila de Lima, with representatives from Samahang Nagkakaisang Mamamayan ng Barangay Sumalo (Sanamabamasu) Farmers and civil society organizations, attends the Kamuning Bakery pandesal forum on Nov. 5, 2024. De Lima took custody of five farmers from Bataan who have been allegedly wrongfully charged with syndicated estafa.
